Coordinating a team trip to another country can be a daunting task. Most of the Junior skiers will be experiencing their first international flights outside their own countries. Team Coaches/Managers must get parental consent forms filling out, purchase airline tickets, coordinate rental cars, hotels, and even teach the young skiers how to pack for a trip that will keep them on the road for 3 to 4 weeks. Then they must keep track of the youngsters as they travel the world experiencing new and amazing sites. Brett New, coach of the Australian Team, was looking for a somewhat secluded place to have his team train, away from the hustle and bustle of a big city. Remembering his last visit to the states in 2000, he contacted us here at Barefoot Central and asked if we would be open to having the Aussies return to Barefoot Central's home site again. We gladly accepted and began making arrangements. The Aussies arrived in Dallas late Friday Night (around 11pm) on Sept 26. They rented two mini-vans, loaded up their gear and headed west to Tin Top, Texas. Tin Top is about 45 minutes west of Fort Worth, just south of Weatherford, Texas on the Brazos River. We plan to bring you updates on the Team's progress and adventures during their stay in the United States. The Aussies are a great bunch of skiers to hang around and they have a great time wherever they go. Half the fun is trying to understand one another. A bunch of Texans talking to a bunch of Aussies results in a lot of "What ga says".
