BFC 2005 Racing Cup Series Celebration Weekend
Dallas/Ft. Worth, Tx (Granbury to Tin Top, Tx)
Contact: Chuck Gleason
Email: cg@barefootcentral.com
Phone: 972-318-0485
Dec 10-11,
2005
This event is being organized as a result of many requests from the
racing teams to have a all out FUN-Filled weekend to celebrate the 2005
Racing Cup Series and end the season with a BANG!
Our plans
are to have a big Shin-Dig Party on Friday night. We're looking to
have it at Billy Bob's of Texas. You can't get any more Texas than
that. It's one of the biggest honk-tonks in the world, with plenty
of hot Texas cowgirls, cowboys, and an indoor bull-riding arena.
We'll have fun eating, drinkin, and dancing Texas Style. Once
we're all feeling good, we'll throw everyone's name into a hat and start
drawing for teams. We'll identify team captains so each team will
have at least one strong starter. For instance, Tony Buoniauto,
Stuart Singer, Chuck Gleason, Keith St. Onge, Dave Sommer will all be
team captains. All the other names will be thrown into a hat and
we'll see what happens. The goal is to give skiers that have never
had the chance to ski together the opportunity to get to know each other
and maybe learn something new.
If you've
always wanted to ski in a race, but haven't been able to hook up a team,
this is your chance to get to ski with some of the most talented racers
on the planet. And have a Blast doing it. So don't miss
out. Book your flights now.
We'll be
racing the same course as we did at the Tin Top Challenge. We'll
figure out how many heats we need and the exact format on Friday
night. The objective will be FUN and Celebration of a Great 2005
Season!
Entry Fee: $35

No plans
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have a lot of things planned beyond the race itself for those that are interested. Our objective is to provide a great race as well as a great opportunity for people (cup and non-cup racers) to socialize.
Here's some of the specifics related the the activities for the weekend:
No Step-offs will be required for Cup Series
Racers. The in-board division will start 5 minutes after the cup series and will follow the same initial course. The course routes are structured such that the two divisions will not cross each others patters. The cup series will be video recorded via helicopter.
The barefoot transition competition will occur after both divisions complete the race. All teams are expected to participated in the event. All teams will be required to perform 2 transitions in front of the viewing area. One transition will occur while traveling up river and one transition will occur while traveling down river. The winning team(s)s will be determined based upon the fasted one time transition and the team that completes the fastest combined transitions (combining the times of both transitions).
The award ceremony at 11:15 will recognize the race winners (both divisions) as well as the barefoot transition competition.
The Poker Run at Lake St. Louis will include a a group of us traveling to several locations (5 - 7) on our 40 foot barge on Lake St Louis collecting playing cards. At the end of the event, we'll stop at the Barefoot Bar and Grill (Knoerzer house -- same location as last year) to identify the best poker hand, eat a catered dinner, and to celebrate the day. Prizes will be available to the winner of the poker run as well as door prizes for those that participated in the event.
After the poker run, we'll hang out at the Barefoot Bar and Grill to recall the events of the day and socialize.
Additional Comments:
We're looking for additional footers to participate in the In-board division. We sent a message to the Wildcard skiers last Friday, but are waiting for responses. We have additional boats available for any and all footers that would like to participate.
Thanks!
Tim Knoerzer

(RULE CHANGES - PLEASE READ)
Austin Dam-to-Dam - Austin,
Tx
Put on by: Austin Barefoot Club
Email: blakefoot@aol.com
Rules changes for the D2D:
- We are eliminating the rule that does not allow more than one Pro or Elite skier per team. (This just doesn't apply anymore)
- We are changing the start technique to the "Platform Step-Off" that was introduced at the Tin-Top Cup Series Race.
Click
here to see video of start
We'll also have a "Marker Boat" that will be at the neck-down area of the start. Lanes 1-3 will have to pass on the right of the Marker Boat and the lanes 3-6 will have to pass on the left. All of the other rules we have in place will apply.
As we have done on the last few years, we'll offer one "Fun Heat" of up to six teams that will head out first on Saturday. This heat is not eligible for the finals. Depending on how many teams are in the competitive heats, will determine if two or three teams from each heat go, or if we need to have a wildcard to make up a maximum of six teams on Sunday morning.
