The day unfolds with
the US Team taking the GOLD medal for the Team Overall!
We won by about 300 points which is one of the largest margins
we’ve won by over the past several years!
The females started with jumping, and Rachel took the lead with a
12.9m jump which was 1.5 of a meter further than her closer competitor
Kirsten Gronvick from Norway! Jumping was quite interesting with HUGE jumps that lead the big boys into there own round! Ben Greenwell topped the field with a 25.6m jump, followed by Patrick Wehner landing a 25.5m jump and Brett New landing a 25.4m jump to fight for his first Gold medal in the finals. That’s been Brett's goal for years. So we'll see if he can fulfill it tomorrow. Being the jump record holder for five years now you think he would’ve won by now! Following up the group was David Small with a 25.3m jump. The biggest battle of all was for the fifth spot and was between two US Team skiers, Billy Brzoza and Lane Bowers. They had a jump off because they tied in the semi-final round at 25.1 which, nobody could jump over! Jump after jump they
were within one tenth of each other with Bowers leading.
Billy came down for his third and final jump to just fall short
Lane by .1m (10cm)!! The
Beast from the East did everything he could, but had a back injury just
two weeks prior! He was in
major pain but stuck it out to give the crowd a show!
The overall title is still up in the air but I’m going to have
to trick the best I ever have to take it home!
Wish me luck and say some prayers all day because it’ll be a
battle but a challenge at the same time!
