Are you ready to get Nasty!

Footstock 2006 is set to be one of the most exciting barefooting events in the nation this year.  We're expecting over 130 competitors.  Team Barefoot Central plans to attend again this year.  There team includes the likes of Aaron Schoelzel, Keith St. Onge, Mike Salber, Tony Buonaiuto, and Bill Brzoza.

This year, for the first time in Footstock history, top international skiers from Australia and New Zealand will be competing.  The 3-Event Barefoot Worlds are 2 weeks after Footstock, so the Aussies have decided to come to the states early so they can get a taste of our beer, our women, and more importantly, our Footstock CASH!

Peter O'Neil and Brett New, both ski on the Australian Elite Barefoot Team. These two guys are the heart and sole of the Australian barefoot team. They each have years of international experience and are skiing at the very top levels of the sport.

Brett New is a World Record Holder in Barefoot Jumping and is currently Australia's #1 ranked jumper, #7 in Tricks and #3 in Slalom.  Brett is known for his silky smooth supper long one-handed jumping style.  Peter is known as "Newy" to his friends.  Click Here to see a video of Brett Jumping.

Peter "Petty" O'Neil is Australia's top barefoot tricker.  He is also tops in slalom and jump.  Peter runs a barefoot school in Australia and trains nearly every competitive Australian footer.

Ryan Groen is representing New Zealand in his first Elite Worlds.  He's the son of World Barefoot Council Member, and New Zealand barefoot champions Fred & Brenda Groen.  Fred & Brenda are unable to attend this year's Worlds due to a near fatal barefoot jumping fall experienced by Brenda earlier this year.  Ryan is representing his family and country in their absence. He's a tough and nails New Zealander and will no doubt make a great Figure-8 competitor.

The Aussies are known for skiing hard and partying hard.  So they should fit right in with the Footstock crowd.  They are all tough as nails and will ski until their arms fall off.  But one thing they have never done is line up on the starting dock of the biggest Figure-8 competition in the World against a 90 lb Wisconsin raised girl with a desire to hand out another pink shirt.

For those of you who haven't spent much time speaking to an Australian, they are known for talking fast and us a lot of slang.  To help you out, we've put together a quick list of Australian slang terms that you may hear during their visit.  We may also need to provide them with a list of Wisconsin "Cheese Head" lingo.  If anyone has some, send it on and we'll post it.
