Mike Seipel's Corner
Question:
It's cold up here in the North and many of us are off the water for four to six months. An early spring trip to Florida is sure inviting. What is your recommendations on how to get physically ready for the rigors of ski school since we aren't able to get on the water here first?
Mike's Answer:
The single best exercise to get in shape for footing is the rowing machine. You use all the same muscles in a similar way on the rowing machine as when you foot. Sit-ups, pull-ups, squats and other exercises where you pull the weights instead of push the weights with your arms are good. After all, when you ski you do not push with your arms, you pull. Forearms and grip are also very important, so any exercises to strengthen your grip are good.
