Chuck,
I would like everyone to know how appreciative we are of the people in the Weatherford, Texas area. For those that don't know, on
Memorial weekend my family went down to the Brazos river from Wichita, Ks so that Haley could participate in the Junior Barefoot Central get
together. Which is a whole story in itself. Anyway the other two kids in my family wanted to ski that
weekend also, so we took our boat with us and Chuck allowed us to use his ramp and dock while we were in the area. Things went relatively
well for a vacation at a public lake on a Major Holiday Weekend until time for us to leave.
After we had picked Haley up from the Gleason's and loaded our boat for the last time we hit a bump in the road. This bump caused our
spring to break and our axle to break loose from the trailer. Maybe Chuck can add some pictures.
Here is where the real hospitality came through. Chuck happen to see a wrecked boat on the side of the road and I guess decided to see
if there was anything that he could do to help. Not only did he have to
go out of his way and cut into his schedule, but he was taking Mike Salber to the airport so Mike was inconvenienced as well. Neither
seemed to mind at all. Chuck thought he had an ideal that might get us back on the road. Chuck gave me the phone number for the local
MasterCraft dealer to get a trailer or to have ours fixed. That was the
easy part. He then drove me to another footers house (The Fahrenthold's). Kyle and Debbi were getting their weekend house ready
for their departure as we drove up. It's my impression that if anything
can be fixed, Kyle can probably do it. Kyle provided us his garage to lift the boat off of the wrecker and one of his neighbors loaned us his
trailer to temporarily set the boat on. The next day we had a loner trailer from the MasterCraft dealer so that we were able to get back to
Wichita, KS to have the boat worked on.
If it wasn't for people like those in this community, I would
have serious thoughts about taking our boat off of our lake anymore. We
couldn't have made it back without the help of these people and several others.
Thanks to all
The Thomas Family
