Chuck,
I
would like to nominate Jennifer Ann Maloney from Richfield (Whitewater,
Crandon) Wisconsin as Footer of The Month. Jenny has been barefooting
for 3 years as of this summer. She is also on the U.W. Whitewater
three event team and does well in slalom, wakeboarding, and the jumping
aspect of that sport. I haven't met too many people with the
passion that she shows about our sport. She eats, sleeps, and
breaths skiing. She spends her summers in Crandon home of
Footstock skiing for the Crandon Show Ski Team. She is very well
rounded in the skiing world. Her first tournament was FootStock
2004. She also competed in Minneapolis at Faceplant Fest in 2004.
She used them as a learning experience and also as motivation to become
better. The summer 2005 she spent time training with Bucky Dailey.
Nearly every morning before the sun was up they were in the boat
preparing to ski. If she wasn’t skiing with him she had her family
boat out pulling other kids from the team. All that summer she
just worked hard to be better at everything. Then came the shining
moment, the 2005 Manitowish Waters Midwest Open figure eight where she
took first place in the women's division and you have never seen a more
gracious winner. Jenny followed that up with a great showing at
Foot Stock that year and was undefeated until an untimely injury
occurred. She busted her ear drum and wasn't able to finish the
weekend. My personal opinion is she definitely had a shot at the
top three. Jenny then traveled with me to the Dam to Dam in
Austin. Not planning on skiing she didn't bring a wetsuit but she was
convinced to ski on Andrea Eggert's team and was a rock for that team.
After FootStock was over, she spent time with Mike Seiple and started
learning back deeps and was successful on the short line a few times
although it wasn't good enough for her and she plans to have them early
this summer. Its great seeing the drive she has for our sport.
This summer she has been up in Crandon since the middle of June and has
skied with Jim Cochran and some of the other guys on her team again and
is learning tumble turns. There is also a strong possibility you'll see
her skiing in the 2006 BFC Racing Cup Series on The Whipping Crew. She
has been working on that and recently completed a 5.5 mile run on her
lake. I look forward to seeing her progress this summer and
working with her myself on some endurance stuff and see what happens in
the future for her.
Sincerely,
Aaron Schoelzel
Congratulations Jenny!
You're definitely deserving of a Footer of the Month. I'll give
you extra points for having to ski and put up with Schoelzel on a
regular basis. LOL! Keep up the good work and we hope to see
you at the starting line in a Cup Series Race this year.
