HEINRICH
SAM
from Pretoria, South Africa
was selected as the
May 2005

Here's
why:
I don't think this one needs much explanation.
Any 12 year old that can trick 9,000+ pts, wake 18+, and jump inverted;
then go out and win the Junior World Overall Championship, skiing
against boys 5 years older than him, gets my vote for Footer of the
Month.
Heinrich is trained by his dad Eugene
Sam. He has dedicated himself to becoming one of only a few truly
World elite level barefooters. Seeing what he has accomplished at
the age of 12, I shutter to think what he can accomplish in the next 10
years. This sport needs more skiers skiing at the top
levels. His accomplishment at the Junior Worlds has no doubt made
his dad very proud, but more importantly, has sent a shock wave through
the barefoot community like no other skier ever has before. I'm
sure Keith St. Onge, David Small, Patrick Weiner, and Andre De Villiers
will all be spending a lot more time on the water in the coming year as
they prepare for the 2006 Worlds.
Keith St. Onge and David Small will both
get a chance to ski against Heinrich at the 2005 US Barefoot Nationals
this coming August in Austin, Texas. It will be a show worth
watching. So stay tuned.....
