I would like to nominate Joe Kanter for "Footer of the Month." Joe skies with Kerry Tolzman of Adams, WI (Ski Decorah). Joe is from Stevens Point, WI. where he works as a newspaper/tape program manager. Joe is 52 and has never skied a barefoot tournament of any kind. In fact, he can only barefoot on the boom-not the five foot, but directly on the boom. I saw him do this at a tournament where he was competing in traditional slalom, tricks and jumping (boards on the feet). And while he is a member of USAWS, he is not a member of the ABC. I am sure
you are asking by now, "How does he qualify for Barefooter of the Month?" Good question. You see, the tournament where I saw Joe ski slalom, tricks and jump with skis and then do a barefoot exhibition was the Water Skiers with Disabilities National Championships in Fergus Falls because, Joe is blind... and now you know the rest of the story!
