Greg
Fatla
from Crandon, Wisconsin
was selected as the

September 2006

Hey Chuck!

How ya doing? The reason I'm nominating this person is because I have been barefooting for 8 years and I have footed with a lot of good skiers. There has not been any person as interested in learning new tricks like this kid is.  For being 15 years of age, and barefooting for 2 years, he has come a long way in such short time.  His name is Greg Fatla.  Greg started out barefooting just learning the basic step off.  He knew how to barefoot for 2 weeks or so, and he was already doing deep ups and trying tumble turns.  During his second summer of barefooting,  he mastered his tumble turns, 1 foots, and is getting better and doing toe holds, and was working on toe ups end of this summer.  Not bad for only barefooting 2 years and 3 months out of the year.  We use up our summer months wisely in the north woods of Wisconsin here in Crandon.  Greg has accomplished quit a bit in Figure 8 tournaments as well.  At Faceplant 2005, he placed 6th place in juniors.  At Footstock 2006, Greg placed 4th place in juniors and also completing his first ever full figure 8.  I guess waking up at 5:30 am to go barefooting pays off.  Also at Faceplant 2006, Greg placed 4th in Juniors. The kid thinks of a goal in his head, and he goes for it. He is fearless and is will to try any new trick.

I feel Greg deserves Barefooter of the Month for all of the reasons I have listed. He gives it 110% and he doesn't quit until he gets it. You couldn't ask for a better friend to have out on the water.
