| How Hard Core are
YOU? |
|

|
Hi Chuck,
I sent you a promise of an unbelievable hard core footer story, and here it is.
His name is Jim (Jimmer) McCann. He is one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet. He is a three event barefoot competitor and an amazing endurance footer. Jim not only got me started footing, he has taught me a lot of the things I know. Jim has a personal goal to ski at least once per calendar month, and this January 1st made 205 consecutive months. Yes,
205. That's 17 years and 1 month. This is an amazing feat no matter where you live. To go that many months consecutive and be physically able to ski, that is. No injuries or anything like that. Now consider that we live in Minnesota. The months of November through March can be challenging to get a nice day. We are fortunate to have a spot in the Mississippi river that almost never freezes, but the weather up here can be a little chilly to say the least. We always ski New Year's Day, no matter what the weather, and I know Jimmer has skied at temperatures near or below zero. I am attaching some pictures of Jimmer from this New Year's Day, and a link with some additional pictures of other crazy Minnesotans.
As for "Super Rob Cail", I have yet to see him show up on New Year's Day and I have been at the river every year for about 6 or 7 years. The pictures you have of him are quite old. I know Rob, and have skied with him a few times. Don't get me wrong, Rob's a great guy, but when it comes to
HARD CORE footers, no one can top Jimmer McCann.
Thanks,
Doug Bohn

Chuck:
Maybe winter footing is considered "Hard Core" in Minnesota, but over here in Wisconsin, we consider it childs play. (see Barefoot Central

Rob Cail
is one of the the craziest footers in
Minnesota. If you think you've skied in some harsh winter conditions, wait until you see Rob and his friend Steve show
us what extremes they are willing to go to to get a barefoot run it. As
Rob puts it, "If it ain't frozen, we'll
foot on it". I feel more sympathy for the driver. What kind of boat is that
anyway? No windshield at 42mph in those conditions has to suck!

Dwin and Jack from Harvey's Lake, PA submitted Christmas
and New Year's Foot'n pictures a few years back. The ice cut the run in half, but it made
for a great starting ramp.
